Cruzeau Rouge 2015
France >Bordeaux >Pessac Leognan
(RP=90-92) The 2015 Château Cruzeau has a superb bouquet, very well defined with blackberry and wild strawberry scents, the oak neatly folded into the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, peppery black fruit with a harmonious, gentle finish that feels long in the mouth. Bravo - this is an excellent Pessac-Léognan that I look forward to re-tasting once in bottle. (AG=90) A total sleeper in this vintage, not to mention an incredibly distinctive wine, the 2015 Cruzeau packs a serious punch. The red cherry, plum, chalk and herb flavors offer notable complexity in a supple, deep Pessac-Léognan endowed with real personality. This is a terrific effort from André Lurton. (WS=87) Fresh and open in feel, with bright cassis, cherry preserve and singed mesquite notes. A light tarry streak gives the finish some oomph, but this is ready now. Drink now through 2022. 17,917 cases made.
